The Cavan Sullivan Transfer Saga

Here is all the insider information regarding Cavan Sullivan's transfer rumors and likely destinations

Cavan Sullivan Transfer Saga Continues

As I am sure many of you know, Cavan Sullivan has been in the headlines over the past 3-4 days for new developments regarding his future destination. Sullivan is the most hyped American prospect since Gio Reyna, and there is good reason to believe he is the most talked about 2009 player in the World as of now. Sullivan remains an important player for Philadelphia Union’s U17 squad as of now, but it is heavily rumored that he will not be there in the long run.

In January, we reported that Cavan Sullivan was more than likely headed to Manchester City, and that as apart of the process, he would be loaned to a club in Europe due to Brexit rules. Since then, we have discovered that the club is most likely Sk Lommel in Belgium. Currently in the second division, Lommel is a sister club of Manchester City. This will give Cavan valuable professional experience before joining the Citizens in late 2027.

The Philadelphia Union worked hard with MLS to try and secure the midfielder’s signature. Cavan’s team stayed strong, and only wanted Manchester City or Dortmund. After the Philadelphia Union’s embarrassing management of Cavan’s brother Quinn it looked like they had slim chances. MLS has largely viewed the deal from a PR standpoint. They offered the largest homegrown in history; which is at the minimum 170k per year, but they were not able to secure his signature.

As we mentioned before, Cavan has had interest from a multitude of other clubs. Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, Dortmund, and City were the four we heard were in the race, but other outlets have reported PSG was also interested. Cavan will join a club that is known for perfecting their central attacking midfielders. City currently have three of the best in the world in the world in Kevin De Bruyne, Julian Alvarez, and Phil Foden. Last spring, we reported that scouts have dubbed Cavan as the best 2009 in the world, and more news broke just last Friday that further validated this.

Outside from Fabrizio Romano posting the information, it seems like a lot of the stuff that came out yesterday was already known. Us as well as other journalists have been attempting to gather information for months now, and most of what Fabrizio said is already public.
