A Major Dual National Called Up To The USYNT

Fidel Barajas has reportedly been called up to the USYNT Under-20s after he represented Mexico at the U17 World Cup

Fidel Barajas Called Up to USYNT U20s

Reports have surfaced that Fidel Barajas has been called up to the United States under 20 side for the March camp. Barajas joined Real Salt Lake this season after a successful stint with the Charleston Battery. A the international level, he represented the Mexico U17s at the recent U17 World Cup in Indonesia. Barajas is an electric winger who is highly rated by both the US Soccer Federation and Mexican Federation. The USYNT U20 camp will be a massive opportunity for the United States to attempt to convince Barajas to play for them at the impending CONCACAF Championships this summer. It is reported that the winger is unsure on wether he wants to play for Mexico or the United States.

MLS Academy Matchups

LA Galaxy Under-17s took on the Colorado Rapids. LA Galaxy’s Enrique Martinez saw red in the 24’ minute for the denial of an obvious goal scoring opportunity. This meant LA Galaxy had to play a man down for over sixty minutes. Maxim Scordo took advantage of this scoring the lone goal of the match just a minute later. The U15 matchup was a much more thrilling game. Mathis Albert continued his fine form scoring in the 29th minute to put the LA Galaxy 1-0 up. Jair Torres added a second just a few minutes later. The Colorado Rapids came to play in the second half. Sebastian Siegler cored the first for the Rapids in the 52’ minute. Conlan Morris bagged the game-tying goal in the 79’ minute as each team took home a point.

St. Louis City took on Houston Dynamo this week. The Under-15 match saw two early goals for St. Louis Chianozie Nwankwo bagged the first in the 11’ minute. Brenden McCrory scored his first of the match for St. Louis just seven minutes later. St. Louis entered halftime up 2-0. Lucciano Pagani scored the first for the Houston Dynamo in the 48th minute. He then bagged again in the 64th minute. The match concluded in a 2-2 draw.

Real Salt Lake hosted LAFC at their facility in Salt Lake City. The U17 game was an all-time classic. The scoring began in the first minute of the match when Luca Moisa bagged the opener. Zavier Gozo added two more for Salt Lake in the 7th minute and the 21st minute. Salt Lake went into halftime up 3-0, but LAFC responded brilliantly in the second. Two goals in the first five minutes for James Arteaga and Adrian Aguilar cut the deficit to one. Arteaga bagged again in the 59th minute. Just five minutes later, Charlie Rosenthal gave LAFC the lead. USYNT player Omar Marquez bagged one for Real Salt Lake in the 74th minute before Rosenthal got the winner in the 76th. LAFC took all three points the 5-4 victory.

Florida Rush U15s jus took down Inter Miami in a 2-1 thriller. Matthias Vieux opened up the scoring for Inter Miami early on in the 8th minute. Florida Rush took very little time to respond, and in the 12th minute Warren Diaz made the score 1-1. Late in the first half Florida Rush scored their second through Danny Pfeffer-Morgan.

10 Players Who Must Be Called Up To USYNT 2007s

1. Tomo Allen - San Jose Earthquakes

Tomo Allen is an all-around center forward for the San Jose Earthquakes. He is already committed to Stanford, and he is one of the top goal scorers in MLS Next this season. Allen has bagged multiple hat tricks this year for the U17 team, and he is a must have in March camp.

2. Snyder Brunell - Seattle Sounders

An all around central midfielder for the Seattle U17 squad Brunell is a must have in this camp. He joined the USYNT in Portland last time, and showed well in the friendlies we were able to watch. Last weekend, he also had a great game against LAFC.

3. Nate Worth - FC Tulsa

Nate Worth is a player who has been with the USYNT multiple times before, but he was absent at last camp. Worth is sold center midfielder who began to really find his form last season for FC Tulsa. Worth should be one of the first names on the roster.

4. Jude Terry - LAFC (2008)

Jude Terry was called up to the 2007 USYNT last October. He captained the 2008 squad to a CONCACAF Championships victory last August as well. Terry has been one of the top center defensive midfielder in the entire youth national pool for awhile now.

5. Harbor Miller - LA Galaxy

Harbor Miller is coming off a stellar preseason with LA Galaxy, and he just signed his first professional contract for LA Galaxy. Miller is likely to earn his MLS debut at some point this season.

6. Gabriel Mendonca - FC Dallas

Gabriel joined FC Dallas from Flamenco over last summer and has been killing it in MLS Next this season. Gabriel captained Flamenco’s 2007 squad last year. He leading his Fc Dallas squad who is in first in their division.

7. Stefan Chirila - FC Cincinnati

Stefan Chirila is another one of the players who is scoring loads of goals this season. Already well over 30 goal contributions for FC Cincinnati U17s this season. Chirila joined FC Cincinnati from Philadelphia Union over the summer.

8. Gavin Tuner - DC United

Gavin Turner was a regular with this group before picking up a couple serious injuries. One of these came in his last appearance with the squad against Spain. Turner has just made his return with Loudon United in preseason.

9. Monty Culbreath - Bayer Leverkusen

Monty Culbreath is a dual national many do not talk about enough. Culbreath has been with both the USYNT and Germany. Culbreath is a winger prospect, and he has recently been playing well for Leverkusen’s U17s.

10. Jackson Platts - Orlando City

Jackson Platts is a rock sold central defender for Orlando City. He stands at a staggering 6 foot and 3 inches. Plats has been with the USYNT before, but he should be towards the top of the list for the March camp.
