The Fifteen-Year-Old Wonderkid Tearing Up Germany
In the past year, Mathis Albert has burst onto the scene. From Souther California and the streets of LA to one of the biggest clubs in the world.
It has been nearly one year since Mathis Albert became well known but the US Soccer community following his domination debut for the USYNT. Albert is from the United States, originally hailing from the LA Galaxy academy. He holds multiple European passports including France and Germany. Albert is a winger who now plays for Borussia Dortmund he has a dominant right foot with superb dribbling capabilities. Albert recently inked a contract with Nike Football last year, and he is proving to become an incredibly signing.
Albert has been playing up nearly his entire life. He originally played for the LA Galaxy U15s a year up when we first saw him at MLS Next Cup in 2023. Albert was a marquee player for this squad constantly starting at wide. Their run in the 2023 MLS Next Cup fell short, but Albert was just getting started. Following this he made his return to the LA Galaxy, but this time he was playing two years up with the U17 squad with an occasional appearance with the U15s. Although, Albert rapidly outgrew the U15s by this time, and became a starter with the U17 squad. This lead up to the 2024 Generation adidas Cup. Albert proved to be pivotal on an LA Galaxy team who fell to the Philadelphia Union in the final. Following the tournament, the buzz around Albert’s name was off the charts. Scouts were talking about him everywhere, but little did they know this was his last game for the club. Albert was already headed to Germany to train with Dortmund’s reserve teams as he could not be registered till the summer transfer window.
At the beginning of this season, Albert was playing with the Dortmund U17s. His first pivotal contribution for the squad came in early September when he bagged a goal and two assists for Dortmund U17s. After that, he was off to Czechia with the USYNT U17s.The first time Albert would make his debut for the USYNT 2008 age gore. This meant he was one of two players born in 2009 to play with the squad alongside Cavan Sullivan. Despite an illness for the first match, Albert bagged a brace and an assist in the match against the Czechia U18s. Following his return from Injury at Dortmund, Albert was integrated with the U19 team. He bagged his first goal with the U19s against Fc Shackle 04. He was then called up to the UEFA Youth League team later that week to play against Real Madrid. Albert started the match, but he only played the first half. This made him the seventh youngest player in UEFA Youth League history. He would later score his first goal in the youth league. Now most recently he has once again been called up the USYNT U17 on one of the most talented roster ever.
