U16 Field Down To The Final Eight

The U16 squads have already played two games, and their bracket is down to just eight teams remaining. There have been some excellent games at this level thus far, and there are many teams still who could hoist the trophy. We have seen various top players at this level. In the round of 32, we watched LAFC vs DC United. LAFC were led by striker Andrew Sorto. He was a bright spot for LAFC hitting the post and scoring within the opening 10 minutes. Mason Barillas is a name that everyone should get to know. From DC United U16 he scored two goals, and was the most dangerous player throughout the match. Earlier today, we saw the Philadelphia Union take on Atlanta United. Atlanta United came out on top against a good Philadelphia Union side. John Ruf was electric on the wing for the Philadelphia Union. He even bagged the second goal for them. This did not stop Atlanta though. Ignacio Suarez lit up the stage for Atlanta scoring an incredible free kick goal as well as the match winner late on. Another Atlanta United standout was USYNT goalkeeper James Donaldson. He was keeping them in the match, and he had numerous saves. Joshua Brown was also solid for Atlanta in the back.

While these teams are good, Real Slat Lake has to be considered the favorite in the age group. Van Parker starts up top, and we believe he is currently the leading goalscorer in the U16 division. He even scored two goals today on route to a 6-3 victory against Charlotte FC.
