U17 Euros To Begin Leagues Begin To Settle As MLS Next Cup Is On The Horizon

The U17 euros are set to kick today, Monday May 19th, featuring some of the top countries in Europe who are vying for strong showings ahead of the 2025 U17 World Cup. In addition to this, MLS Next is wrapping up with just two match days left before playoffs.

U17 Euros Set To Begin

The U17 Euros are set to kick off with some of the best talent all over the European continent ready to square off in Albania. Eight teams have been divided into two separate groups with the Group A boasting big name nations from Portugal to France this group will be highly competitive. Group B boasts the likes of England and previous winners Spain. Following the group stage, the top two sides from each group will head to the semifinals and then eventually a final. Some notable names will partake in this tournament as well. Guys like Max Dowman and Rio Ngumoha will star for England. Dowman will be one of the youngest players at the tournament being born in late 2009. Ngumoha will also star being one of the youngest players to make his first team debut in Liverpool history. Other names to watch out for include Ibrahim Mbaye and David Boly both hailing from Paris St. German’s academy. Boly will also be a young star at the tournament as he is still just 15 years of age playing against 16 and 17 year olds. Some may recall that two years ago Lamine Yamal was one of the top players at the tournament, and this eventually lead to him playing a very big role for Barcelona in the following season. The final for this tournament will take place on June first in Albania.

MLS Next Coming To An End

MLS Next only has two match weeks left, and following this weekend, the leagues are really starting to see teams break away into the playoff qualification positions. This week, we saw a great MLS matchup between the New England Revolution and DC United. German Arteaga and Gavin Turner each bagged for DC United within the first 10 minutes. Both are excellent players, and are two of the best prospects that are currently playing for the DC United youth teams. This put DC in-front by two goals to nil. Bryan Norena bagged one for the Revolution next, but it on the brink of halftime Langston Fabiyi got one for DC. Heading into halftime the score of the match was 3-1. It is also important to note that the yellow cards were abundant in this match as well. A total of four handed out between the two sides which is many for an MLS Next match. Besides the point let’s head into the second half, the New England Revolution were the first to get on the score board. Kaleb de Oliveira scored to make the tie 3-2 and Giuseppe Ciampia who tied the match to make it 3-3 just 10 minutes before the fin al whistle.

The most hyped fixture of the weekend took place between the Philadelphia Union and the New York Red Bulls. In the U19 matchup between these two sides the Red Bulls came out on top with a 2-1 victory. Ryan Scuro bagged within the fist ten minutes of the match, and Jamir Johnson would answer for the Philadelphia Union. Before the ned of the first half Dennis Nilech would bag the winner for the New York Red Bulls. The U16 fixture brought a few more goals. Dylan Logan-Stewart scored the opener in the 20th minute for the New York Red Bulls. Matthew Jean Baptiste would follow this with a brace for himself to put the Red Bulls 3 goals up against one of the top teams in the entire country. This score would hop up until the end of the game when Brett Seemuller scored for the Philadelphia Union to soften the blow. The match would finish 3-1.
