The 2024 Youth Soccer Central Player of the Year is officially Diego Rocio from the Philadelphia Union. From winning Generation adidas Cup MVP to starring with the Mexican youth national team Rocio has done it all. Rocio made his professional debut with the Philadelphia Union II squad earlier this year. In addition to his, he also was one Mexico’s top players throughout the year. His most notable action was in Mexico at the Liga Mx preseason cup where he scored multiple times.
In April, Rocio really put his name out there during the 2024 Generation adidas Cup. He was able to win the Most Valuable Player Award in the tournament. Rocio bagged two important goals for Philadelphia Union U17s to send them into the finals over Brazilian giants Flamenco. The next day, Rocio scored the opener in the final against the LA Galaxy eventually helping lead to a Philadelphia Union victory. Rocio becomes the second ever player to win this award following the Nimfasha Berchimas who won the award the last year, and shortly after this, he made his MLS debut.
